Young Atlas

“Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark. In the hopeless swamps of the not quite, the not yet, and the not at all, do not let the hero in your soul perish and leave only frustration for the life you deserved, but never have been able to reach. The world you desire can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours."

 Ayn Rand (1905-1982), Atlas Shrugged

Poetry by Dee

                                   Young Atlas

 Independence is a yoke

A burden that has to be carried

Heave, my child, heave

For your dreams

For your wants

For your needs

They are not easy to achieve

But nothing is beyond your reach

Spin your world

Watch it revolve and evolve

With different sets of looking glass

Absorb all you can

Discover how you can

Learn what you can

It is not easy to accomplish

But you have all the needed means

Suspend your fears

Fly high with your young wings!

I like this one.  Yet again something I'll have to remember when my boys get older.
