New Year Reflections

Just reflecting on the events of 2004. In light of the devastation Mother Nature had dealt on people of Southeast Asia, I feel blessed to survive the wrath of Ivan. I am grateful to all the people who helped our community rebuild. I remember getting teary eyed after seeing linemen from Canada trying their best to restore electricity in our town. I also saw relief workers from everywhere around the country doing anything they can do to ease the loss and the pain of  my town's residents. I am thankful that my town is located in the United States of America where the relief efforts are almost instantaneous. Lives had been spared because of the concerted efforts of many public and private agencies.

I love the picture above because it embodies the spirit that my town had during the holidays. Ivan was the Grinch who threatened our Christmas but like Dr. Seuss' famous book's Whos, my townpeople and I realized that Christmas was about the intangibles.

May everyone of you have the best year ever!

Happy New Year...the hurricanes in Florida this past year were very scary and I'm glad you all made it through them.

Yeah and heard the animals knew and most hit higher ground. That was nice then the mom who let go of one of her sons. Then found him later. But she let go in the water. Man she had to make a choice and she chose to let go  of one boy and held the other. What  a choice. Lori

It's really good that you guys made it out of Ivan alright, and it's so sad with India now. We had a huge discussion about it at New Year's dinner yesterday with my family, and I got teary eyed.
HAVE A GREAT NEW YEAR!!!

Ivan, Jeanne and Frances.  All them hit here too.   Thanks for reminding me that a little collapsed ceiling here was nothing in the grand scheme of things.  Happy New Year.  May it bring the best!  ~Sie

Hey neighbor, I just wanted to say thanks for stopping by my journal. I cannot even begin express my sorrow for the people affected by the tsunami & as far as the rash of hurricanes we experienced this past summer, I got teary eyed when I saw the convoy of out of state power trucks coming in to Florida, too.  Sending wishes back atchya for an incredible New Year. ~Ann : )

My prayer is that the relief will much out weigh the need.

This sure has been the year for natural disasters, hasn't it. I hope Mother Nature is ready to cut us some slack. I feel helpless. I contributed to the Red Cross for hurricane relief and saw real results from that. I contributed again for the tsunami relief and things only look like they are getting worse over there. It's so sad! You are soooo right. I am glad I live in the USA also. Thanks for your kind comment in my journal. :-)
