She's Back!!!!

Just want to say thanks to everyone who e-mailed me through hotmail and cox about the TOS fiasco. Thanks, Julie and Judith for the help! Mary, thank you for taking the time to e-mail the Blogfather for me. You guys are the reason why I want my J reinstated although AOL can be frustrating at times. Thanks for your support. Glad it is over and I can blog once again...

AOL's story is that a trojan virus hijacked one of our screen names and had been used for mass mailing. They said they have to shut us down to protect our privacy and investigate the situation.  Is there a vulnerability in AOL then that someone can do that? Is the problem taken care of  so that nobody else's AOL SN can be hijacked?

I have so many update alerts so I will have to delete them all and start anew. I'll visit you guys as soon as I can.

Again, thank you wonderful and fabulous AOL Journalers!!!!!

So very happy, truly happy to see you back.  I can sympathise because in my early days on aol the same thing happened to me, someone sent out thousands of pornographic emails in my name and I was blocked.  It was all sorted in the end but it was very worrying and upsetting at the time.  Look forward to seeing your entries again from now on.  Take care xxxxx

Glad to have you back. It happened to us once while using my sisters computer which unbeknownst to her, had a virus.  I was locked out of AOL and had to call and verify who I was and that I was not sending bulk email.  We were given a temp password to get back online then were able to reset it and that was the end of it.  Sounds like yours was much more.  Just happy it's resolved for you.

If you have broadband and use an ISP (other than AOL) to get online and you don't have firewall software installed, a trojan can just find you...you don't have to click on a THING. It's scary! That stinks you guys got infected with one of those spambot ones. Glad you are back online!

That happened to us one time, too!  I'm not sure how that happens but it is kind of scary to think that someone can hack into your AOL account....

all i gotta say is doh!

an account can get hijicked if the hacker obtained the password.  how they got the password is through a trojan in your computer system or someone unintentially gave out the password or even a keylogger.

check your computer for viruses/trojans.

i'm glad you are back.
