This Should Explain It

When mothers talk about the depression of the empty nest, they're not mourning the passing of all those wet towels on the floor, or the music that numbs your teeth, or even the bottle of capless shampoo dribbling down the shower drain. They're upset because they've gone from supervisor of a child's life to a spectator. It's like being the vice president of the United States.

 Erma Bombeck, humorist.

Lol, I hope that is not a portrait of you.  It is very hard being a mother and letting your children go, to become a spectator, but real love means having the ability to let go.

This is the fourth or so entry about loosing our kids and letting go. Derasta also talked about it. Yes I think that i hate being a spectator and the fact that their running cuases me more running. It takes me outside my four walls later and farther than I want to go. We are NOT amused at having to adjust to this and I am fighting it tooth andnail!!!!!!!!!!!! Shall we go out and pout together. Oh I love this. Erma Bombeck, a beautiful woman and I love her take on life. I once read something she wrote, and can't find it again, that I'll always to some degree remember. I'm not quoting because I can't remember the right words, but she wrote something to the effect, that as she stands before God, she hopes she'll be able to say "I didn't waste a single thing you put in front of me"
